[Portage, MI.
September 9, 2009]
Estranged from an ill-defined past
Lived in lugubrious motion
Adopted in desperation to face
Unknown cultural riffling
Ahead, this lodestar a gut thing without
Prescience or forethought, uninvolved,
All choices made day-to-day, by hours
As we meandered down unblazed roads
Re-inventing wheels and even ourselves
Trying to find places of quiet peace
Awaiting inevitable next moves
Lysing the latest script of soon-gone friends
Knowing only more change in the offing
Permanent change, a Brat’s reality.
