Last Will and Testament
[Deer Park, June 15, 2014]

Many carved votives hand-hewn from wood
Sit around my bleached pine barren,
Invitations for soaring
Black-feathered, red-headed
Scavengers to take their perches
Prithee form a queue, first-come, first serve,
I beseech they who sup on road-kill,
Nature’s solemn cleaner-uppers
To wait with some patience
I have asked my lawyer to
Amend my will to give my corpse
To vultures, a meal for the loathed
Equal to after-life science
When income-minded, high-SAT-score
Medical students might root
Like smart hogs witlessly through my innards.
Tiz writer’s work to seek the silly
Buried deep in the most solemns.
(Note to Wolves: Lose not heart, furry gray friends
I am known for fickleness in such matters.)
