Rocks Rock

[Deer Park, Luce County, MI. July 30, 2009]

The creator sends presents
Announcing them with rollers
Causing stone chatter, click-bugs
Anxious as Bangkok bargirls
To be seen, picked up, fondled
If even for a short time,
Chattering like katydids
Gathered for plague or church
Social, ice cream sundaes
Other sweet confections
The works, the gamilla.
Rocks arrive around the clock
Boosted ashore by wave kicks
Deposited in piles for
Mother Nature’s grateful fans
To be appreciated
Wet, dry, sun, rain, any old time
Clumped loosely in gaudy piles
Winking , Sonny pick me up,
Here in perfect diversity:
Size, color, shape age, texture
Not to mention origins,
Living harmoniously.
